Old Barn House is a detached stone-built cottage in south Herefordshire, ten miles from Hereford and five from Ross-on-Wye, set amid rolling countryside with open views yet close to the main road network. It sleeps eight in four bedrooms with three bathrooms, holds a Gold award and takes two dogs, who get their own welcome pack. The house was fully refurbished in 2020 and designed around comfort and modern living.
A large entrance area takes shoes, coats and the dog kit. The open-plan modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to cater for a group: an electric induction double oven, dishwasher, American-style fridge-freezer with ice and water, wine cooler, microwave, grill, and all the utensils, pots, crockery, cutlery and glassware. The living room has comfortable sofas, a smart television with Netflix, a cosy electric log-effect fire and a sliding door to the patio, while the dining room has a stunning oak table with a further lounge area beside it, both overlooking the private garden, with a Bluetooth music system. A utility holds the washer-dryer, airer, iron and cleaning kit.
One bedroom is on the ground floor, a twin that zips together into a super-king with its own smart television, next to a downstairs shower room, which makes the house workable for a less able guest. Upstairs are a king-size, a twin that also zips to a super-king, and a bright super-king with a smart television and an en-suite bath with shower over, plus a separate toilet and basin. Every bed has a pocket-sprung Hypnos mattress with hypoallergenic duvets and pillows and Egyptian cotton linen.
Outside is a large patio with rattan furniture, a gas barbecue provided seasonally with equipment and gas included, and a hydrotherapy jacuzzi hot tub seating up to six adults. The south-facing garden has a double hammock and a range of outdoor games including football posts, badminton, cricket and rounders, all set among tranquil gardens with picturesque Herefordshire views and real stargazing potential. There is ample private parking and an electric vehicle charging point, and a coarse fishing lake is a short walk away with complimentary fishing by prior arrangement.
A pub is within a mile. Ross-on-Wye is five miles west, Hereford ten north and Monmouth twelve south, with Hay-on-Wye, Gloucester and Cheltenham within forty-five minutes and Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff just over an hour. Symonds Yat, the Forest of Dean, Offa's Dyke, Goodrich Castle, the Wye Valley, Hereford Cathedral and the Malvern Hills are all nearby. The owners take hen parties and birthday celebrations.
