Briarcroft Fishery Lodge is a timber holiday lodge in a quiet rural spot on the banks of the River Wyre in the picturesque village of St Michael's on Wyre in Lancashire, with two coarse fishing lakes on site. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, is all on one level, holds a Gold award and takes one large or medium dog, or two small ones, by prior arrangement. Note the lodge cannot accept children under sixteen because of the open water.
The lodge is open plan, with a fully fitted kitchen area with an electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, tall larder fridge and under-counter freezer, all crockery, cutlery and utensils provided, and a four-seat dining table beside it. The lounge has sofas, a television with an integral DVD player and patio doors onto decking with views over the fishing lakes. The shower room has a spacious quadrant enclosure, WC, basin and a heated chrome towel rail. The master bedroom is a double with a wardrobe and dressing table looking over the smaller lake, and the twin has two singles, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers, with a store room holding an iron, ironing board and cleaning equipment. LPG gas central heating and full insulation make it usable all year, and heating, power, bed linen and fishing for two people are included in the price; towels are not, and a washing machine is available on site on request with a washing line outside.
The two lakes hold mixed coarse fish including mirror and common carp to 25lb, crucian carp to 3lb, perch to 3.5lb, roach to 2lb, bream and tench to 7lb, plus rudd and chub, with outside toilets available while fishing. Parking takes two cars beside the lodge.
St Michael's on Wyre has an ancient church, and riverside walks lead from the lodge as part of the longer Wyre Way. A pub serving food and a restaurant are both within easy walking distance, either along the river bank behind the fishery or along Rawcliffe Road. Preston is ten miles and has the nearest station, and Blackpool and Lancaster are both under half an hour, with the Forest of Bowland, the Trough of Bowland, RSPB Leighton Moss, Lytham Hall and the Lancaster Canal all within reach.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
