About The Cider Barn
The Cider Barn is a converted barn four and a half miles from Glastonbury in Somerset, sleeping twelve in six bedrooms, every one of them en-suite. It holds a Gold award and takes two dogs by arrangement. The conversion pairs a modern, stylish interior with the rural charm of the original building, and the layout is built around opening the house up to the garden.
The lounge has large bifold doors onto the patio and outdoor dining area, so on a good day the inside and outside genuinely run together. The dining area seats up to fourteen and opens into a well-equipped kitchen, which is the right arrangement for a group cooking and eating together. All six bedrooms have televisions and their own bathrooms: three with king-size beds and three twins. Underfloor heating runs through, and a cot, high chair and welcome pack are provided.
Outside is an attractive patio with a charcoal barbecue and garden furniture, plus a six-seater hot tub, which is where the group tends to end up. There is off-road parking for six cars in an enclosed garden.
Guests also have shared access to the Sedum Spa, forty metres from the barn, which has an indoor swimming pool, a poolside lounging area, a gym and a sauna. The nearest pub is a mile away, with the Red Lion at West Pennard, the Sheppey Inn at Godney and the Red Lion at Babcary all nearby. Glastonbury, five miles off, has the Tor, the abbey and a good deal of the mystical end of Somerset, and the town's festival and the Glastonbury Extravaganza both fall within easy reach. Wells and the Mendip Hills are nine miles, Cheddar around seventeen, and Wookey Hole, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and Longleat all make good days out. The owners take hen parties and birthday celebrations.
