About Glingerbank
Glingerbank is a large country house near Longtown in Cumbria, recently and completely refurbished, sleeping up to thirty across fifteen bedrooms with fourteen bathrooms. It holds a Gold award and takes one dog. Step-free access and a lift make the house genuinely accessible for disabled and elderly guests, which is rare at this scale.
The reception rooms are spacious and numerous: a hall, a sitting room, a huge oak-panelled drawing room, a dining room seating thirty, a study, a snug, a billiard room with a full-size billiard table, and a kitchen, scullery and laundry room. The three-room kitchen is well equipped with a Rangemaster electric range cooker, two dishwashers, two larder fridges, a freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. Wifi reaches the whole house, there are two flat-screen smart televisions with DVD and Blu-ray players plus further televisions in the kitchen and games room, and a Bose SoundTouch wifi speaker system. A piano, boot room, welcome pack, towels and bed linen are provided along with a cot and high chair. The bedrooms are en-suite, with a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom fitted with grab rails by the shower and toilet, a shower seat, a walk-in shower and a raised toilet, and a wheelchair-friendly path to the property.
Outside is a large and beautifully kept private garden with a veranda, a barbecue, sun loungers, a hot tub and outdoor furniture seating twenty-four, along with an outdoor swimming pool and ample private parking. Games run to table tennis, snooker, table football, badminton and boules.
Walking on the estate is open to guests, fishing on the Border Esk can be arranged, and a tennis court at a nearby property is available by arrangement. Carlisle is eleven miles away with the nearest station, and Gretna Green is close, which makes the house a regular base for weddings, either in-house or at Gretna Green or Kirkandrews on Esk church. The North Pennines, the Solway Coast and Ullswater are all within reach. The house suits family get-togethers, birthdays, anniversaries, groups of friends, wedding parties, business meetings, conferences and team building, and the owners take stag and hen parties.
