Heads Nook Hall Cottage is a two bedroom holiday cottage in the grounds of Heads Nook Hall in Cumbria, sleeping four on a single level and holding a Gold award. It sits in the North Pennines countryside a short drive from the market town of Brampton and under seven miles from Carlisle, in its own grounds and reached by a typical Cumbrian country road off the A69. The setting is quiet and secluded with views over gardens, fields and farmland, and the position suits anyone who wants both the Lake District and the North Pennines within reach without staying in the middle of either. Two well behaved dogs are welcome, with dog friendly walks starting within fifteen minutes.
Because everything is arranged on one level, with level access throughout, all bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor and a wheelchair friendly path to the property, this is a realistic choice for guests who would rather avoid stairs; there are steps to the property itself with level access once inside, and disabled access parking is available. The living room is spacious, with a handsome vaulted ceiling, sofas and armchairs, a cosy gas fire and a large television, and double patio doors bring in the light and open straight out to the garden. The kitchen and dining area is well equipped for self catering, with a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, kettle and toaster, and seats six. There is also a laundry room and an office area with a desk for anyone who needs to work.
The two bedrooms are a welcoming double and a flexible second room with a zip and link bed that can be made up as twins or as a super king double, which is worth confirming when booking. The family bathroom has a bath, a separate shower, a washbasin and WC. Underfloor heating runs through the cottage, and wifi, digital television, towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are all provided, along with a cot and high chair. Outside there is a private enclosed patio garden with furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue. Parking is available for three cars with an electric charging point in the cottage car park, and there is a bike store. The cottage is decorated for Christmas, and short breaks run all year round.
A pub lies within a fifteen minute walk. Brampton is close for everyday needs, and Carlisle, seven miles away with the station, has the cathedral, castle and a full range of shops and restaurants. The North Pennines National Landscape is on the doorstep for walking, cycling and wildlife watching, with the Solway Coast in the other direction and Hadrian's Wall country immediately to the north. The Lake District National Park and Ullswater are both within driving range for a full day out. Access is straightforward from the M6, A69 and A66, whichever direction you are coming from, which makes this an easy base for touring the north of the county.
