Keepers Lodge is a two-bedroom holiday home on a twenty-acre farm in North Devon, just outside Exmoor National Park near Knowstone. It sleeps four, both bedrooms have their own en-suites, and it holds a five-star rating. The interior is luxurious and homely in equal measure, and the setting is properly quiet.
The open-plan living area combines a lounge with comfortable velvet sofas, a woodburner set in an inglenook fireplace and a large flat-screen television, alongside a stylish, well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, cooker, microwave, toaster, freezer and fridge, and a dining area seating four.
The bedrooms are the memorable part. One is a double with an intricately carved historic wooden four-poster bed and an en-suite bathroom; the other is a double with an iron bed frame and its own en-suite. A high chair is available, and wifi, bed linen and towels are provided. The property does not take pets.
Outside there is access to a garden and patio for eating alfresco in summer, with parking and an electric vehicle charging point. The countryside here is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers, with expansive moorland, rolling hills and lush valleys, and the Two Moors Way, running coast to coast from Lynmouth to Ivybridge, passes through. There is a Michelin-starred pub a short stroll away. Exmoor National Park is just beyond the farm for a wide range of outdoor pursuits, Tiverton is thirteen miles, the estuary town of Barnstaple twenty and Westward Ho! beach twenty-eight.
