The Barn at RyePark House is a one-bedroom barn conversion at the end of a long private drive across farmland, a mile from the village of Bratton Fleming in North Devon. It sleeps two, holds a Gold award and is allergy friendly. It sits on an eleven-acre smallholding where the owners keep eight sheep, two cats, two dogs and four chickens, and it is completely self-contained and private while being next door to the farmhouse if you need anything.
The interior is stylish and of a high standard, with the small touches that matter: Egyptian cotton linen, a luxury king-size bed in the double bedroom and an en-suite shower room with a rainfall shower. The open-plan living area has a high, airy beamed ceiling, a lounge area with a warming woodburner, a dining area for two and a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, freezer and coffee maker. Underfloor heating runs throughout, along with wifi and digital television, and a welcome pack, board and card games, towels and bed linen are provided. Everything is on one level with a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom.
Outside is a patio with a barbecue and the private hot tub, which is a fine place to sit whatever the time of day, with a stream in the grounds, a stargazing area and parking for one car beside the property. The setting is dark-sky friendly, and the views run across fields, farmland, valley and woodland.
Walks lead through lush countryside and ancient woodland straight from the door, with Exmoor National Park two miles away. Bratton Fleming, eight miles north of Barnstaple, has a well-stocked village shop. The golden sand beaches of North Devon are about half an hour's drive, with Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, Westward Ho! and Tunnels Beaches all within range, along with the South West Coast Path, Exmoor Zoo, the Big Sheep, RHS Rosemoor, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and boat trips out to Lundy Island. Barnstaple has the nearest station.
