Lletty Bach is a single storey cottage on a working smallholding in the Carmarthenshire countryside near Login, sleeping four in two bedrooms and holding a Gold award. It is a small, unpretentious rural retreat offered at fair rates, and what it does well is peace: the cottage is surrounded by nature, with birdsong and a burbling stream as the soundtrack, plenty of wildlife to spot, and views down the valley. In the evenings the dark skies are genuinely dark, with no light pollution, which makes stargazing one of the main events of a stay. One well behaved dog is welcome.
Everything is on one level, with an open plan living, dining and fully equipped kitchen area and only a small step at the front door, which makes the cottage easily accessible. There is a cosy lounge with a television, and the kitchen has a microwave, freezer, kettle and toaster among its fittings. One bedroom has a king size bed; the second has children's bunk beds, suitable for children up to the age of thirteen with the top bunk only safe for those over six. The bathroom has a shower with a shower seat, a WC and a basin. Towels and bed linen are provided, along with tea, coffee and fresh eggs courtesy of the smallholding's ex commercial rescue hens, plus a cot, high chair, board games and card games.
To the rear is a private enclosed garden with a patio and an outdoor dining set, looking down the valley, ideal for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The cottage is reached by a track from the road with parking directly in front, and there is ample free off road private parking. There are small animals to meet on the smallholding, and the property is noted as a fireworks free location, which matters a great deal if your dog is nervous. Short breaks are available all year round, and there is a stargazing area on site.
The cottage sits on the local footpath network with direct access to nearby routes and a newly created woodland walk, including the Landsker Borderlands Trail, so walks begin at the door. A local cafe can be reached on foot, which is a pleasant way to earn lunch. The market town of Narberth, about eight miles away, has independent shops, cafes and restaurants, with more eating out, a shop and a supermarket within five miles and Whitland and its station five miles off. The coast is not far: dog friendly beaches including Amroth, Newport Sands and Poppit Sands are within about forty minutes, along with Saundersfoot, Tenby, Barafundle Bay and Newgale. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Picton Castle are nearby for families, with St Davids Cathedral, Caldey Island, Stackpole, Skomer, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Laugharne and the Dylan Thomas trail, Cenarth Falls and the National Botanic Garden of Wales all within range. Walking, cycling, mountain biking, bird watching, beachcombing, sea fishing and wine tasting round out the options.
