This sunny three bedroom cottage sits in the grounds at Hafod Grove near Moylgrove, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, sleeping up to ten and holding a Gold award. It is tucked away down a short private driveway, secluded and set back from the lane, with a private garden running to almost an acre and views over fields, garden, countryside and out to sea. The accommodation is comfortable and practical rather than precious, which is exactly what you want with children and dogs in the party, and up to five dogs are welcome at no extra cost.
A long conservatory with comfortable seating and a table makes a pleasant alternative place to sit and eat, and doubles as somewhere sensible to put wet dogs and wellingtons on days that have not gone according to plan. The sitting room is cosy in the sense of snug rather than cramped, with a log burner, a flatscreen television with Sky, films and sports, and a three piece suite. The large, sunny, open plan kitchen and dining room has a laminate floor that copes with pets and spillages, and the kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, integral cooker, free standing halogen cooker, microwave, integrated fridge and fridge freezer, plenty of storage and all the usual utensils; a separate room at the rear holds the washing machine and a deep freeze. Downstairs is a comfortable twin bedroom with an en suite shower room and WC. Upstairs are the family bedroom with a four poster bed and a pair of adult size bunk beds, a twin bedroom with pretty garden views, and the family bathroom with a full size bath and an electric over bath shower of restricted height. Wifi, Sky, bed linen, a welcome pack, a cot, high chair, board games and books are provided.
Outside, the large garden has swings for children, garden furniture and a barbecue, with plenty of space to run about, and there is free private parking for up to three cars immediately alongside. The setting is quiet, with a bird watching area and only fields beyond. For larger groups, the adjoining Hafod Grove mansion house can be combined with this cottage, giving a good deal more space under the same arrangement. Short breaks are offered in low and mid season, and stag, hen and birthday parties are accepted. Helpful neighbours run the farm, and Tesco home delivery and a local bakery will both bring orders to the door.
Moylgrove, or Trewyddel, is a very pretty coastal village of stone cottages with a river that meanders half a mile down to the sea at Ceibwr Bay, a beauty spot with stunning rock formations where you can join the Pembrokeshire Coast Path; seals, dolphins and porpoises are regularly seen from the cliffs, and occasionally whales and turtles. The spring by the bridge in the village is said to have healing powers and is used locally as drinking water. Poppit Sands and Newport Traeth, both sandy and dog friendly, lie three miles north and south, with the Poppit Rocket bus running between Cardigan and Newport in summer. Cardigan, five miles away, has shops, restaurants, galleries, a theatre and cinema, and there is golf at Newport and Cardigan, sailing at Newport yacht club, and coasteering, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, horse riding and mountain biking over the Preselis. Pentre Ifan burial chamber, St Dogmaels Abbey, Cilgerran Castle, Castell Henllys, the Welsh Wildlife Centre, Folly Farm, Oakwood, St Davids Cathedral and the Shire Horse Farm all make good days out.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
No bed linen fees.
