Blaenpant is a Grade II listed Georgian mansion in its own thirteen acres at the top of the Teifi valley, five miles from Cardigan in West Wales, sleeping sixteen to eighteen across six bedrooms. It holds a Gold award. The house has been carefully renovated to keep its historic features, including wood panelling, original fireplaces, ornamental plasterwork and carved columns, while gaining efficient modern oil fired central heating, so it has the atmosphere of a real Georgian house without the chill. It is set up frankly and cheerfully for large families and groups getting together, whether for a special occasion or simply a weekend of good company.
The comfortable original Georgian drawing room runs to thirty feet by fifteen with a large open fire, and all the ground floor rooms have French windows opening directly onto the enclosed front garden. The dining room has a large, beautifully made refectory table seating sixteen. The kitchen is well equipped with a five burner gas hob, a double electric fan oven, a microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer, and there is a laundry room with washing machine and dryer in a separate building. The main entrance hall leads to a second open hallway with an oak staircase to the first and second floors, each with three bedrooms and a bathroom; the first floor includes two large master bedrooms, one with an open fire, and there is a four poster among the beds. The unrestored old library serves as a games room with table tennis, table football and darts, and has an additional ground floor lavatory. A piano, wifi, board games, bed linen, a cot, high chair and stairgate are all provided.
Outside, the grounds are the great pleasure of the place, particularly with children: thirteen acres with plenty of level grass for ball games, a playground area with swings, a slide, football goals and a wendy house, a private garden, patio, gas barbecue, fire pit, hot tub and garden furniture. The woodland is a natural adventure playground for all ages. Free private parking takes up to fifteen cars. Many friendly free roaming animals live here, including donkeys, ponies, chickens, ducks and William the pig, and the owners live in the separate North Wing and are happy to help with questions. The location is dark sky friendly, and up to two dogs are welcome. Short breaks are offered midweek and at weekends in low and mid season, and stag, hen, birthday and wedding parties are all accepted.
There are excellent walks through countryside and woodland to Cenarth, two miles away, with its beautiful falls, two pubs and a small leisure centre. A pub lies within five miles, with plenty of local country pubs and restaurants, and more in nearby towns. Cardigan, five miles off, is a romantic small Welsh seaside town on the Teifi estuary with an old castle, and the beaches and outdoor pursuits of Cardigan Bay are close: sailing, canoeing, kayaking, coasteering, surfing, sea and river fishing, quad biking, climbing, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and a good network of cycle routes. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and coast path are on hand, along with the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. Local events include the Cardigan summer festival in August, the Fishguard International Music Festival in May and the Barley Saturday horse parade in Cardigan on the last Saturday of April; Carmarthen is the nearest main line station.
