Court Farmhouse is a six bedroom, six bathroom holiday farmhouse near Bude in North Cornwall, sleeping twelve and rated four stars with a Gold award. The building carries some three hundred years of history and has been renovated to hold onto that while adding the comforts a large group actually needs, not least a bathroom for practically every bedroom. It stands within the Court Farm cottage complex, with its own private enclosed garden and views over fields and farmland, which gives guests the useful combination of a self contained house and access to a well equipped holiday site. Up to three dogs are welcome.
The living room is the heart of the house: spacious, with plenty of comfortable sofas, a television and a wood burning stove at its centre. The dining area has a second wood burner and a table seating twelve, so nobody eats in shifts. The kitchen is built for numbers, with a double range and a larder fridge freezer alongside a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, and there is a separate laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the main bedroom has zip and link beds beneath high vaulted ceilings, a television and its own bathroom with a shower over the bath. There are two further en suite bedrooms with king size beds, each with space for a cot, and three twin rooms with zip and link beds that can be made up as twins or doubles. A family bathroom with an over bath shower completes the arrangement. Towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are provided.
Outside, the private garden and patio hold an outdoor dining setting for twelve and sun loungers, with a barbecue and a fire pit for the evenings. Parking is available for six cars. The shared facilities at Court Farm are open all year: an indoor swimming pool heated to around thirty degrees, a tennis court, a games room with soft play for the youngest children and a pool table for older ones, and an outdoor play area with swings, a slide, a climbing frame, a wendy house and a fourteen foot trampoline. There is an animal field where children can meet the farm's smaller animals, and spa treatments can be arranged locally at additional cost. The house is decorated with a tree and decorations at Christmas, and stag, hen, birthday and corporate groups are all accepted.
The setting is rural and quiet, with a pub within a short walk, a local shop within a mile and Bude's restaurants, pubs and cafes within five miles. Bude itself is a small Victorian seaside town with a sea pool, Summerleaze Beach and a good spread of places to eat. Further afield are Tintagel Castle, Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep, the Donkey Sanctuary and the North Devon coast. Local activities range from surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sea fishing to climbing, abseiling, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, mountain biking, golf and tennis. Okehampton is the nearest railhead, with the station twenty three miles off; short breaks run midweek and at weekends in low and mid season.
