Parlour Barn is a two bedroom barn conversion at Court Farm near Bude in North Cornwall, sleeping four on a single level and rated four stars with a Gold award. Being all on the ground floor makes it a practical choice for families with young children and for anyone who would rather not tackle stairs. The barn sits in a shared courtyard with a small porch at the front, surrounded by the fields and grassland of a working farm, and the North Cornwall coast is close enough for a beach morning and an easy return for lunch. One well behaved dog is welcome, for which a small additional charge applies.
Inside, the living space is open plan, bright and airy, with comfortable sofas, a flatscreen television and a dining table, all under beamed ceilings that give away the building's age. The kitchen sits in the same room, modern and well equipped, so whoever is cooking stays in the conversation. A wood burning stove handles the colder months, and wifi and digital television are provided. The main bedroom has a king size bed with a wooden frame set against a wooden wall; the second is a twin with high beamed ceilings, pale walls and wooden accents, and blackout blinds, which light sleepers tend to appreciate. The bathroom has a walk in shower, basin and WC. Towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are all included, along with a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. A cot, high chair and stairgate are available.
The shared facilities are a large part of why people book here. Court Farm has a heated swimming pool, a tennis court and a games room with a soft play area for younger children and a pool table for older ones, plus an outdoor play area. There is an animal field where children can meet the farm's smaller residents, and a fire pit for evenings outdoors. Spa treatments can be booked with a local therapist at additional cost. The courtyard outside the barn is child friendly and shared with the other cottages, and there is a patio, barbecue and garden. Parking is provided for one car. Short breaks are available midweek and at weekends in low and mid season.
Bude is a small Victorian seaside town with sandy beaches, cafes, independent shops and its famous sea pool, and there is a pub within a short walk of the farm. The wider area offers a great deal: surfing on the north coast, walking and cycling routes in every direction, mountain biking, horse riding and golf. Days out include Tintagel Castle, Bodmin Moor, The Big Sheep and Westward Ho Beach over the Devon border. Whether you want a week of beaches and coast path or a quieter stay built around the farm and its facilities, Parlour Barn covers both. Exeter Central is the nearest main line rail connection, and birthday parties, weddings and corporate groups can be accommodated on the wider site.
