About Large Peak District Luxury Cottages sleep 10 to 16

This is one of a pair of award-winning cottages set in six acres of landscaped gardens and pastureland at Kniveton, in the Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The cottage is Grade II listed with seventeenth-century origins, and it has the leaded lights, stone mullioned windows, ancient oak beams, exposed stone and timbered walls and inglenook fireplaces to go with that. There are five bedrooms sleeping ten, with four further single beds taking the total capacity to fourteen.

Four of the bedrooms are doubles and one is a twin, all furnished with handmade antique pine and fitted carpets, and all of them look out over the gardens. The master bedroom is en-suite with a power shower. The main bathroom has a Victorian-style roll-top bath and a separate walk-in power shower, and a baby bath and high chair are provided for younger guests. Two travel cots are available and can be moved around the house as needed. The stairs between floors are deliberately shallow, with seats on the landings, which makes them manageable for children and older guests alike.

Lounge and dining room are separate, both under oak-beamed ceilings and both with log-burning stoves; there are three sofas in the lounge along with a television, DVD and hi-fi. Wifi reaches all rooms, and the cottage has a sauna, an outdoor hot tub and a games room. The gardens are well stocked and have a barbecue, a patio set and cycle storage, with secure off-road parking. Meals, cakes, flowers and supermarket deliveries can be arranged in advance, as can massage and nail treatments, and small corporate meetings are catered for with a projector, screen and whiteboard. There is even the option to bring your horse.

The setting gives you the Peak District on the doorstep and Carsington Water little more than a mile away, with the historic market town of Ashbourne close by and Derby fourteen miles off. Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey, Bolsover Castle and the Heights of Abraham are all within a day's reach. The house is non-smoking and cannot take pets.
