About Gatehouse West, Colmer Estate
Gatehouse West is a nineteenth-century cottage on the Colmer Estate near Modbury in the South Hams, South Devon. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, holds a Gold award and takes one dog. It comes with free access to the estate's leisure facilities, which is what makes a two-bedroom cottage feel like considerably more.
Inside it is traditional and rustic in feel, with a cosy sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, and a dining area seating four. The bedrooms are a king-size and a twin, sharing a bathroom. Wifi, digital television, towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are provided, along with a cot, high chair, stairgate and board games, and the cottage is decorated with a tree at Christmas.
Outside is a private garden with an enclosed patio, a barbecue and sun loungers, plus parking. The setting is quiet, dark-sky friendly, with rural and woodland views.
The estate facilities are free to use: an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor pool heated from May to September, a gym, a tennis court with a basketball net, a games room with table tennis and darts, a children's playground, fishing lakes on site and twenty-eight acres of grounds to roam. A dog-friendly pub is a short walk away, and there are dog-friendly walks within fifteen minutes. Kingsbridge is seven miles off and Ivybridge has the nearest station. Salcombe Sands, Bigbury-on-Sea, Slapton Sands, Blackpool Sands, Buckfast Abbey, Dartmoor National Park and the South West Coast Path are all within reach, with sailing, surfing, sea fishing, rockpooling, horse riding and watersports locally. Short breaks are available outside school holiday periods.
