Meadow Cottage takes its name from the meadow it overlooks and has access to, at Twistgates Farm in the Blackdown Hills near Honiton. It was a dairy in a former life, and the exposed beams and stonework were kept through the conversion. It sleeps four in two bedrooms with two bathrooms, holds a Gold award and takes up to two dogs by arrangement. Because the master is en-suite, it works equally well for a family or two couples.
Downstairs there is a separate, very well equipped kitchen and a dining and sitting room with a wood-burning stove, with French windows opening onto an enclosed patio garden with furniture. Upstairs are a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room and a twin, served by a family bathroom with a bath and handheld shower. Central heating runs throughout, and the price includes all heating, electricity, bed linen and towels. A cot and high chair are available on request, and there is a smart television and wifi.
The cottage sits back from neighbouring Weathervane Cottage and shares the same outlook over the meadow, which is open to all guests on the farm. Parking is ample and free, a communal laundry room has a washing machine and tumble dryer for a small charge, and an electric vehicle charging point is available on request. There is a birdwatching area, and the cottages are non-smoking. A self-contained ground-floor twin room with en-suite shower, television and hot drink facilities, the Orchard Bedroom, can be rented alongside if you need an extra bedroom or friends want to visit for a couple of nights.
The surrounding countryside is unspoilt and full of wildflowers, birds and animals, with good walking straight from the door and a dog-friendly pub nearby. The A30 and A303 are less than five minutes away, making the cottage an easy base for Devon, Dorset and Somerset with the Jurassic Coast close at hand. Honiton, about seven miles, has independent shops, restaurants, cafes and a well-known cluster of antique shops, along with the Allhallows Museum for its lace and pottery. Exeter is twenty miles, and Beer Beach and Quarry Caves, the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, the Donkey Sanctuary, Pecorama, RHS Rosemoor, Killerton, Crealy, Dartmoor and Exmoor are all drivable. The cottage is open all year including Christmas, New Year and Easter.
