Nine Ocean Reach is a single storey, one bedroom coastal holiday home near Salcombe in South Devon, arranged entirely on the ground floor and looking out across countryside and open sea. It sits within the South Devon National Landscape, roughly four miles from the estuary town of Salcombe and around seven miles from the market town of Kingsbridge. The setting is rural and quiet, with fields and valley falling away towards the water, yet the South West Coast Path can be joined from the front door and followed into Salcombe in about an hour and a half. The property holds a Gold award and sleeps up to four, making it well suited to a couple with occasional extra company.
Inside, the layout is open plan and uncomplicated: a sitting area with wifi and digital television, a fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, freezer and coffee maker, and a dining table laid for four. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer, useful after beach days. The bedroom has a double bed, and the shower room is fitted as a walk in shower with grab rails by both shower and toilet. Because everything is on one level with level access throughout, the property works well for guests who would rather avoid stairs. Bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are all provided. The look is deliberately modern and pared back, letting the view do the work.
Outdoors there is an enclosed, securely fenced garden, a patio and a balcony, with sun loungers for still afternoons. The site is described as dark sky friendly, so clear nights are genuinely worth staying up for. Up to four dogs are welcome, along with cats, and the practicalities have been thought through: dog friendly walks and a dog friendly pub are both within a fifteen minute walk, and there is an outdoor dog washing station. Families are catered for with a cot, high chair and stairgate. Parking is private, free, secure and adjacent to the property, with ample space. Short breaks are available in low and mid season.
The coast here rewards slow exploration. Salcombe offers sandy coves, boat trips, watersports and pubs and restaurants that welcome dogs and children; Kingsbridge has independent shops and cafes and is a good base for walking and cycling routes. Beaches within reach include Salcombe Sands, Hope Cove, Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands and Bigbury-on-Sea. Inland are Dartmoor National Park, Dartmouth Castle, Buckfast Abbey, Greenway and the Blackdown Hills, with Paignton Zoo, Pennywell Farm, Babbacombe Model Village and Woodlands Family Theme Park for wetter days. Sailing, yachting, kayaking, wind surfing, coasteering, sea fishing, golf, tennis and hiking are all close by, and Totnes is the nearest railway station of use.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
