Ten Ocean Reach is a first floor, one bedroom holiday apartment on the South Devon coast, four miles from the estuary town of Salcombe and set within the South Devon National Landscape. Being raised a floor above the garden level gives it the better outlook: the balcony takes in fields and farmland, the valley below and the sea beyond, and the elevation makes the view feel considerably wider than the footprint suggests. The South West Coast Path is accessible from the front of the building, with Salcombe about a ten minute drive or an hour and a half on foot along the cliffs. The apartment carries a Gold award and sleeps up to four.
The interior is arranged as a single open plan space with a sitting area, kitchen and dining table for four, finished in a modern, minimalist style. Wifi and digital television are provided, and the kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave and freezer. Underfloor heating runs throughout, which makes this a comfortable choice well outside the summer season. The bedroom has a king size bed, and there is a shower room with basin and WC. Bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are all included. Accommodation is on a single level once you are upstairs, and the whole apartment is easy to keep in order after a day outdoors.
The balcony, with its table and chairs, is where most of the time gets spent: it is the natural spot for breakfast, for a drink at the end of the day, and for simply watching the weather move in off the sea. There is also an enclosed garden area, and sun loungers are provided. The location is described as dark sky friendly, which makes stargazing a genuine option on clear nights. Up to four dogs are welcome, as are cats, with dog friendly walks and a dog friendly pub within a fifteen minute walk and an outdoor dog washing station on site. A cot, high chair and stairgate are available for families. Parking is private, secure, free and ample.
Salcombe, four miles away, is the obvious first outing: a yachting harbour with sandy coves, boat trips, watersports and pubs and restaurants that welcome dogs and children. Dartmouth, a little further round, is worth a day for its castle, independent shops and riverfront. The South Devon Heritage Coast strings together Salcombe Sands, Hope Cove, Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands and Bigbury-on-Sea, while Dartmoor National Park, Buckfast Abbey, Pennywell Farm, Paignton Zoo and Woodlands Family Theme Park lie inland. Activities on the doorstep include sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing, coasteering, sea fishing, rowing, rockpooling, beachcombing, walking, cycling, horse riding, tennis, squash and wildlife watching. Short breaks are offered in low and mid season; Totnes is the nearest rail hub.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
