Yenworthy Mill is a barn conversion on a farm on the northern slopes of Exmoor National Park, in Lorna Doone country near Malmsmead and within reach of Lynton and Lynmouth. It sleeps nine in four bedrooms with two bathrooms, holds a five-star rating with a Gold award and takes three dogs. The farm once had its own mill and the remnants of the old water wheel are still there.
Inside is a large open-plan dining and sitting room, and the shape of it is unusual: a double-height sitting area with two comfortable sofas and a wood-burning fire, plus a galleried sitting room above with three more sofas, a television, DVD and CD players and an iPod dock. The dining area seats up to ten. The newly fitted kitchen is set up for easy self-catering with a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave and oven with hob.
The four bedrooms are a ground-floor double with en-suite, a ground-floor twin, a first-floor twin and a spacious first-floor double with an additional set of bunk beds and a cot, plus a first-floor family bathroom and a ground-floor toilet. Wifi, biomass-fuelled central heating and electricity are included, along with a basket of logs, kindling and matches, bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels; bring beach towels for day trips.
Outside is a patio and a raised garden with outdoor seating and a barbecue, and panoramic views out over the Bristol Channel. Parking takes three cars and there is an electric car charging point. The position gives direct access to the South West Coast Path and, down a rugged pathway, a secluded rocky beach. Guests can walk thirteen miles of footpaths within the farm itself, and the ancient Roman fort at Old Burrow is nearby. The land holds four Sites of Special Scientific Interest, with rare butterflies and trees, extensive heather moorland and striking cliff geology. The barn sits midway between Porlock and Lynmouth, each with its own attractions and amenities, with Lee Abbey and a sandy beach five miles away and Minehead twelve.
