Westertonhill Lodge 2 is a three bedroom holiday home near Balloch in Dunbartonshire, arranged entirely on the ground floor and sleeping eight, with a Gold award. Built in 2022, it sits in a peaceful area surrounded by green fields within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, a few minutes from the village of Balloch. Everything being on one level makes it a practical choice for guests who prefer to avoid stairs, and the doorways are wide, with level access into the property. Up to four dogs are welcome by arrangement, which makes this a genuinely dog friendly option in a part of Scotland built for walking.
The open plan living area has a generous, sociable corner sofa and a flatscreen smart TV, with a stylish, well equipped kitchen and dining area alongside and a double sofa bed in the room. There is also a separate sunny dining room with a large oak dining table seating eight and pleasant views, which is an unusual luxury in a lodge of this size and means meals do not have to happen in the middle of the living space. The three bedrooms comprise a double, a second double with an en suite shower room, and a twin, with a further shower room and WC. A dishwasher, microwave, freezer, coffee maker, washing machine and tumble dryer are all provided, along with wifi, digital television, towels, bed linen, a welcome pack, a cot and a high chair.
French doors open onto an enclosed private patio with a sheltered seating area, a picnic table and a brick built coal barbecue, for which you should bring your own charcoal. A hot tub is available, housed under a gazebo so it can be used in any weather, and sits ready for the end of a day outdoors. Free private parking is provided adjacent to the lodge. Short breaks run all year round, and stag, hen and birthday groups are accepted.
Balloch, a short drive away, is the gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, with shops, restaurants and pubs, and a local shop, supermarket and eating out all within a mile. Balloch station is close, with good rail links to Glasgow, and Glasgow Airport is about twenty five minutes by car. Loch cruises run daily with views of Ben Lomond, and Loch Lomond Shores offers shopping, the Sea Life aquarium, the Bird of Prey Centre, watersports and aerial adventure. Balloch Country Park is good for walking, and further afield are Balloch and Dumbarton castles, Auchentoshan Distillery, Geilston Garden, Overtoun House, the Ardardan Estate and the Titan Crane at Clydebank. With the national park on the doorstep there is no shortage of walking, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, paddle boarding, sailing, fishing, climbing, horse riding, pony trekking, tennis, golf and wildlife watching, and Duck Bay Marina on the loch shore is a pleasant place to eat with a view.
