Westertonhill Lodge 5 is a newly built four bedroom holiday home near Balloch in Dunbartonshire, sleeping up to ten and holding a Gold award. It stands in a quiet spot surrounded by green fields within reach of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, a few minutes' drive from the village of Balloch. The build quality is evident: very well insulated, with an air source heating system supplying radiators and hot water, ceramic tiled floors chosen for cleanliness, and sandstone paving in front of the property and on the patio sourced on site. Guests tend to comment on how spacious it feels inside and on the surroundings outside.
The open plan living and dining area has a generous corner sofa and a large oak dining table seating ten, with a flatscreen smart TV, and it is the natural place for a group to gather. The kitchen is well equipped with all the usual appliances plus a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, and there is a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Accommodation runs to four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a double bedroom on the ground floor and three more upstairs: a king size room, a second double and a twin, with en suite facilities among them, plus a sofa bed in the lounge. Towels and bed linen are provided, along with a cot and high chair.
Accessibility has been considered from the start. On the ground floor all doorways including the bathroom are wheelchair wide, access from outside into the property is level throughout, and there is a wheelchair friendly path and a walk in shower, with one ground floor bedroom and bathroom; note that there are a few steps up to the back patio. Outside, the enclosed private patio has a private six seater hot tub and a brick built barbecue for outdoor cooking on summer evenings. Ample free private parking sits adjacent to the lodge. Up to four well behaved dogs are welcome, short breaks run all year round, and stag, hen and birthday groups are accepted.
Balloch, about five minutes away, sits on the south west shore of Loch Lomond and is the gateway to the national park, with shops, restaurants and pubs on the main street and a supermarket, local shop and eating out all within a mile. Balloch station is a mile from the lodge with good rail links to Glasgow, and Glasgow Airport is around twenty five minutes by car. Daily cruises leave from the loch shore with views of Ben Lomond and the surrounding castles and stately homes, and Balloch Country Park is a fine place for a walk with the dog. Loch Lomond Shores, a short walk from the station, has boutique shopping, the Sea Life aquarium, the Bird of Prey Centre, watersports and aerial adventure. Further afield are Balloch Castle, Dumbarton Castle, Auchentoshan Distillery, Geilston Garden, Overtoun House, the Titan Crane at Clydebank and the Denny Tank Museum. Walking, hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, paddle boarding, sailing, fishing, climbing, horse riding, pony trekking, quad biking, golf and wildlife watching are all available nearby.
