Petite Fleur is a one-bedroom cottage in the village of Stow Maries, in the Essex countryside about 11 miles from Chelmsford. The building is Grade II listed and Georgian in origin, and the accommodation is arranged on a single storey. It sleeps one or two people, with a secluded setting and views across gardens, fields, farmland and the river. The property is let to adults only; children and dogs cannot be accommodated.
Inside there is one bedroom with a double bed, and one bathroom fitted with a power shower. The kitchen has an electric cooker with a single oven, a microwave, a fridge-freezer and a washing machine, and the dining table seats two. Central heating runs throughout, and there is a television with digital channels along with wifi. Bed linen and towels are provided, and a welcome pack is left for arrival. Outside, the garden is private and secure, with space to sit out and watch the birds that use the surrounding farmland and riverside. Parking is ample and off road, on a private driveway adjacent to the cottage. The minimum stay is two nights, short breaks are available and arrival days are flexible.
The cottage suits couples or single travellers looking for a quiet rural base, whether for a short break or a longer stay. A golf course lies adjacent, and countryside and nature walks begin close by, with coastline and nature reserves within reach on foot. Angling, sailing, swimming and bird watching are all possible locally, and a pub is a short walk away, with further pubs and restaurants a short drive. The First World War airfield museum at Stow Maries is nearby, as are the RHS gardens at Hyde Hall. Further afield, visitors can explore Maldon's Promenade Park, Heybridge Basin, the Museum of Power, Layer Marney Tower, Hylands House, Ingatestone Hall and the Tiptree Jam Museum and Tea Room. Old Leigh and Leigh-on-Sea are known for seafood served in local pubs and restaurants, with a walking route on to Southend, its pier and railway, Adventure Island and Hadleigh Castle. North Essex offers Constable Country, including Flatford Mill and the villages of Dedham and East Bergholt, while Lakeside and, across the Queen Elizabeth II bridge, Bluewater provide shopping. The Chelmsford Cricket Festival takes place each year. The nearest railway station is South Woodham Ferrers.
