About Doves Barn

Doves Barn is a Grade II listed sixteenth-century barn conversion in the hamlet of Badley, between Needham Market and Stowmarket in Suffolk. It sleeps twenty-two in eight bedrooms with five bathrooms, holds a Gold award and can consider two dogs on request. The conversion fuses the elegance of the original building with the comforts of a modern group house, and the oak timber ceilings are what you notice first.

The main living space pairs cosy sofas around a wood burner with an expansive dining table where all twenty-two can sit down together. The kitchen is a warmer, more intimate room with its own seating area, a range cooker, a microwave and plenty of preparation space, with a wine chiller and a laundry room alongside. Underfloor heating runs through, and there is wifi, Sky and digital television and a supply of board games.

The eight bedrooms each have their own character: one with a four-poster king-size bed, four further king-size rooms, one with a double bunk, and one with two double beds and three single beds. Three of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. A cot, high chair and welcome pack are provided.

Outside there are two acres of gardens, a patio and courtyard for eating alfresco, a barbecue, a badminton net, croquet and giant Jenga, and parking for up to fifteen cars. A hot tub sits in its own lodge, and the games room has a snooker table and table tennis, with karaoke for party nights. A pub is within a fifteen-minute walk in the nearby village, and Needham Market, close by, has independent shops and restaurants along with Needham Lake for a picnic and some serious birdwatching. Stowmarket is two miles away with a station at Needham Market. Baylham House rare breeds farm is nearby, Thetford Forest with Go Ape is a drive, and the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, Sutton Hoo, Framlingham Castle, Snape Maltings, Flatford Mill and Dedham Vale are all within range. The owners take hen parties and birthday celebrations.
