Broadway House is a large converted Cotswold stone barn at Flagstone Farm, two miles west of Stow-on-the-Wold and three hundred yards off a minor road. It sleeps sixteen in seven bedrooms with six bathrooms, holds a Gold award and takes two dogs. The farm is non-working and stands in twelve acres of fields and woodland rich in wildlife, with superb views over the north Cotswold countryside.
The ground floor holds a kitchen, a living room, a dining room, a second kitchen, a hall and snug and a WC, plus two four-poster bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower and one with an en-suite bathroom. Above, two separate staircases divide the first floor: one reaches a double with an en-suite shower room and a twin with an en-suite bathroom, the other a double with an en-suite shower room, two more twins and a shower room. The dining area seats twenty-two, which is what makes the house work for a celebration.
The barn is fully double-glazed and insulated to at least twice the normal standard, with central heating, a television, an electric oven, hob and microwave, an automatic washing machine and tumble dryer and a dishwasher. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided along with a starter pack of washing powder, washing-up liquid and dishwasher tablets, and a cot and high chair are available. All the cottages on the site have easy walking access.
Outside there is an enclosed garden and a sitting-out area with hardwood patio furniture and a barbecue, a tennis court, a games room with table tennis and table football and ample private parking. The setting is tranquil and rural, yet only five minutes' drive from the shops and amenities of Stow, and accessibility from major routes is good: London is around eighty minutes, Birmingham forty-five, and Cheltenham, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon about thirty. The Plough Inn at Ford, the Halfway House at Kineton and the Fox at Oddington are all worth a drive, the Cotswold Falconry Centre and Cotswold Wildlife Park are nearby, and Cheltenham, eighteen miles off, has a full calendar of racing, cricket, music and literary festivals. Conference facilities are available, which suits small business groups.
