Red Gables is a four bedroom, four bathroom holiday cottage on the Pudleston Court estate near Leominster in Herefordshire, sleeping eight and rated five stars with a Gold award. It stands within nearly fifty acres of private parkland, with views over a quiet pond and woodland, and comes with an unusually generous set of wellness features for a country cottage: its own outdoor hot tub, a traditional barrel sauna, and exclusive bookable access to the estate's private indoor pool. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, with dog friendly walks within fifteen minutes.
The living room has a plush corner leather sofa, a wood burning stove and a smart television, and works as the natural gathering point on a cold evening. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering at this scale, with an island and breakfast bar, oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer and washer dryer, and there is a separate conservatory dining space seating eight with views over the garden. Bedrooms and bathrooms are arranged as a ground floor double with en suite bathroom, a twin with its own en suite, an upstairs double or twin on zip and link beds with en suite, and a fourth upstairs zip and link room, with a family bathroom upstairs. Underfloor heating, air conditioning, wifi, digital television, towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are all provided, and a cot, high chair and stairgate are available.
Outdoors is where this cottage earns its keep. A secluded decking area looks out over open countryside, with the barrel sauna and a large hot tub set on the deck, along with a barbecue and outdoor seating for long summer evenings. The garden is enclosed and secure for children and dogs. Guests also have a complimentary daily booking slot at the estate's indoor pool, and there is a children's play area on site along with small farm animals to meet. The wider grounds are a genuine asset: woodland paths, lakes, landscaped gardens, quaint bridges and open lawns, all of it quiet. Free off road parking for three cars sits adjacent to the cottage with an electric car charging point, and the cottage is decorated with a tree and decorations at Christmas. Short breaks are available all year round, and stag, hen and birthday groups are accepted.
Beyond the estate, Leominster is five miles away with its shops, pubs and market town character, and the station is the same distance. A dog friendly pub lies within five miles and more country pubs, restaurants and cafes within ten. The famous Black and White Village Trail is close at hand, along with Berrington Hall, Hampton Court Castle, Stockton Bury Gardens, Ralph Court Gardens, Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum, Newbridge Farm Park and Small Breeds Farm Park; Hereford is an easy drive, and Ludlow with its castle, food festival and Stokesay Castle and the Shropshire Hills lie to the north. The Malvern Hills give the best walking within half an hour, and falconry, golf, horse riding, hiking, nature walks, swimming and forest bathing are all available locally. Bromyard Folk Festival, Lakefest, Nozstock, Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Three Counties Show mark out the year.
