About Barn Owl Cottage
Barn Owl Cottage is a high-quality one-bedroom barn conversion hidden down a country lane at the ten-mile midway point between the historic market towns of Horncastle and Boston, surrounded by the rich fertile soils of the Lincolnshire fens. It sleeps two, or up to three using a fold-away single bed on request, holds a Gold award and takes two dogs. Everything is on one level.
The living space is light, airy and open plan, combining comfortable seating with a beautifully fitted country kitchen. An exposed beam forms the mantle over the fireplace, where a log-burning stove makes the place properly cosy through the winter. The kitchen is well equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer, a dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob and plenty of utensils. The bedroom has a super-king zip-and-link bed, and the stylish bathroom has a shower above a P-shaped bath and a heated towel rail. A high chair, welcome pack, towels and bed linen are provided, along with wifi and digital television.
Outside, patio doors open onto a paved patio with garden furniture and a barbecue in a secure enclosed private garden, looking out towards the undulating Lincolnshire Wolds; it is the right place for a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Parking is ample and off-road adjacent to the cottage.
The nearest pub is only half a mile away in the village of New Bolingbroke, and there is a good spread of places to eat within five to ten miles. Lincolnshire has an abundance of woods, beaches and country walks for you and the dogs, and the owners leave details of them in the cottage's information folder. The Lincolnshire Wolds are close at hand, Skegness is around thirty-five minutes' drive and the market towns of Sleaford and Boston are both within half an hour, with Boston having the nearest station. Lincoln, thirty miles off, has the castle, the cathedral and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, and Tattershall Castle, the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, RSPB Frampton Marsh, Gibraltar Point, Gunby Hall and a long list of wildlife parks and family attractions are all within reach.
