About Granary Cottage

Granary Cottage stands at the end of a hundred-year-old stables and granary in peaceful countryside a mile and a half from the village of Snainton, between Pickering and Scarborough, looking across its enclosed garden towards the North York Moors. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, holds a four-star rating with a Gold award and takes one well-behaved dog. All the accommodation is on one level.

Two steps lead into a spacious kitchen and diner with exposed beams and a Belfast sink. The bright lounge has an open fire in a brick fireplace, two cottage windows, a flat-screen digital television with DVD and CD players and an iPod dock, and French doors opening onto a York stone patio. The bathroom has a bath with an electric shower over. The two bedrooms are a double with a wardrobe and chest of drawers and a twin with a wardrobe. Oil central heating is included with no extra charges for electricity or fuel, wifi runs throughout, towels and bed linen are provided, and a travel cot and high chair are available on request. A welcome pack and an initial supply of coal and logs are waiting on arrival, and the cottage is for non-smokers.

Off the lounge is the York stone patio with garden furniture, a barbecue and sun loungers, plus the use of a large grassy garden and a private drive with parking for two cars. There is a secure bike store, a birdwatching area, board games and, usefully for nervous dogs, a fireworks-free location; the cottage is decorated for Christmas.

Snainton offers a pub and restaurant, a local shop and garage and a sports field with a children's play area, and there is a dog-friendly pub within a thirty-minute walk. This is an ideal base for walking, cycling and horse riding, with Dalby Forest and the moors a short drive. The beaches at Scarborough, Whitby and Filey are all close, along with Sandsend, and the market towns of Helmsley, Malton and Pickering, the historic city of York and Heartbeat country are all within easy reach. Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Eden Camp, the North York Moors National Park and a long list of family attractions round York are all drivable for a day.
