About Cottage 2 New Yatt Farm

Cottage 2 at New Yatt Farm is a one bedroom retreat for two in the Oxfordshire countryside, on the fringe of the Cotswolds and a short way up a farm track alongside two other holiday cottages. It holds a Gold award. This is a cottage built around a couple rather than scaled down from something larger: one bedroom, one bathroom, one open living space, and views over fields and farmland from the windows. Woodstock and the Cotswolds National Landscape are both a short drive away, Oxford is thirteen miles off and Hanborough station three. Up to two dogs are welcome, and there are good farm walks from the door.

Indoors, the character comes from wooden beams and solid wood furniture, with a wood burning stove in the living area doing the rest. The open plan ground floor has a comfortable sofa and armchair, a flatscreen television, a dining area for two and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, Miele dishwasher, washer dryer and fridge freezer, so self catering for two is straightforward. Underfloor heating runs throughout and the wifi is fast. Upstairs is a double bedroom with a Hypnos bed and mattress, and the bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, basin and WC. Towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are provided.

Outside, a patio garden at the front of the cottage has a bench where you can sit and take in the quiet: farmland in most directions and little traffic beyond the occasional tractor. The garden is enclosed and private, which helps if the dogs have come along. Parking is available for four cars, with an electric car charging point on site, and short breaks are offered all year round, which makes this workable as a two night escape as easily as a full week.

A pub is within a thirty minute walk, with a good choice of local pubs and restaurants including gastro options and more in the nearest town five miles away. Woodstock rewards an afternoon with its cafes, delis and country pubs, and Blenheim Palace on its doorstep; the Cotswolds National Landscape, with its stone villages and scenic trails, begins a few miles west. Oxford is about thirty five minutes by car, with the Ashmolean, the Pitt Rivers and Natural History museums, the Botanic Gardens, the Radcliffe Camera and Oxford Castle and Prison. Other days out include the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, Crocodiles of the World, Cogges Manor Farm, Fairytale Farm, Minster Lovell Hall and Didcot Railway Centre. Walking, hiking, nature trails, golf, tennis, squash, sailing, river and coarse fishing and yoga are all available locally, and the Cornbury Music Festival, Oxford Literary Festival and Oxfordshire County Show are fixtures of the local year. Or simply stay put with your partner, the dog and the fields.
