Four Ashes is a five star luxury country house on the outskirts of the village of Cosheston in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, sleeping twelve in six bedrooms and holding a Gold award. What sets it apart is the water: the house stands on the coast path above the Cleddau waterway with stunning views, and it comes with its own private beach, private moorings and quay, and a heated boat house fitted out with a barbecue and music system. Four acres of gardens surround it, there is a private tennis court, and a stream runs through the grounds. One dog is welcome.
Inside, the house is decorated to a high standard in a contemporary style built around easy living and entertaining, and it suits large family gatherings and reunions with friends particularly well. Entertainment facilities are generous: a sixty inch plasma television with a cinema system, a zoned music system and console games. The six bedrooms hold a super king, four kings and two singles, with six bathrooms and en suite facilities, and there is an open fire for the evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, freezer and coffee maker, the dining table seats twelve, and there is a laundry room and an office area with a desk. Wifi, towels, bed linen and a welcome pack are all provided, along with a cot and high chair.
The indoor infinity swimming pool sits just metres from the house overlooking the waterway, in a contemporary building with rolling glass walls so that two sides can be opened up in warm weather onto a large terraced deck. With the glass closed on colder days you can swim in warm water and still have the view. The infinity edge overlooking the water gives the impression of an endless pool, and a clever music system will find almost any track in seconds. The pool has a motorised safety cover and the building is protected by electronic access codes. There is also a gym. Outdoors, the private garden and veranda take in river, garden and rural views, with a patio, barbecue and fire pit, and ample free private parking.
The private beach and quay give direct access to the waterway for fishing, watersports and the string of waterside pubs along it; guests can be picked up and dropped off at the quay or use the moorings, boat hire can be arranged, and for the more adventurous there is water skiing. A pub is a short walk away, and the area has some excellent local pubs and restaurants. Pembroke, with its castle and the station, is close, along with Carew Castle and Tidal Mill and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo for a family day. The Pembrokeshire coast path, sailing, surfing, coasteering, sea and river fishing, angling, boating, wind surfing, horse riding, pony trekking, tennis, swimming, golf, walking and wildlife watching are all on offer. Short breaks are available in low and mid season, and birthday and corporate groups are accepted.
