Trebrowen is a ten bedroom farmhouse near Angle in south Pembrokeshire, sleeping up to twenty four with the addition of a sofa bed, rated five stars with a Gold award. It is equally a holiday house and a celebration venue, and the owners are refreshingly direct about it: holidays, special occasions, parties and hen or stag gatherings are all catered for. The setting is rural and secluded with views over fields and farmland, and the star feature is an all weather enclosed heated outdoor pool, joined by a six seater hot tub, a games room and a balcony overlooking the pool fitted with a very large television.
The ten bedrooms hold eight king size beds and six singles, with eight bathrooms between them and one bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, which helps with mixed mobility in a group this size. The lounge has a cosy log fire, and there is a conservatory, a games room with a pool table, table tennis and a multi games table, a Playstation, board and card games and boules. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, and the dining table seats twenty four so the whole party eats together. There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, and wifi, digital television, towels, bed linen, a welcome pack, cots and a high chair are provided.
Outdoors, the private secure garden has a patio, garden furniture, sun loungers, a balcony, a barbecue, a fire pit and a pizza oven, which tends to become the evening's entertainment in its own right. The heated outdoor pool is enclosed and usable whatever the weather, and the hot tub seats six, which makes for a straightforward division of labour: adults in the hot tub, children in the games room. Parking is provided for twelve cars adjacent to the property with an electric car charging point, and there is an outdoor dog washing station, useful after the beach. Up to three dogs are welcome, the house is decorated for Christmas, short breaks are offered in low and mid season, and stag, hen and birthday groups are accepted.
Freshwater West, one of the best surfing beaches in Wales, is a five minute drive away, and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park path runs along this stretch of coast for walking with or without the dog. West Angle Bay has a cafe with a fine beach view and, by all accounts, very good cheesecake. Pembroke, six miles off, has its castle and the station, and Barafundle Bay, Stackpole Walled Gardens, St Govan's Chapel, Manorbier Castle, Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, Tenby Harbour, Caldey Island, Colby Woodland Garden, Folly Farm and the Blue Lagoon Water Park are all within range. Coasteering, kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing, swimming, climbing, abseiling, rockpooling, beachcombing, hiking and bird watching are all available locally, with pubs, restaurants, cafes, a shop and a supermarket within five miles.
