About Dunster Character Cottage, No. 2

Two Grooms Cottage is a spacious period property a minute's walk from the high street of Dunster, one of the prettiest villages in the West Country and a remarkably well-preserved medieval one. It sleeps six in three double bedrooms with two bathrooms and holds a five-star rating with a Gold award. The layout is upside down, with the living rooms above and the bedrooms below.

On the first floor is an elegant lounge with comfortable sofas, a television and DVD player and a wood burner, though logs are not provided, alongside a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area with an electric double oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The ground floor holds three double bedrooms, one with a spacious en-suite bathroom, plus a family shower room; a washing machine and tumble dryer sit in a cupboard under the stairs.

Wifi, adjustable central heating and electricity are included in the cost, with bed linen and towels provided; bring your own beach towels. The cottage does not take pets.

Outside is a charming courtyard with a bench and potted shrubs, reached through one of the bedrooms, and a further seating area for two on the upper level with distant sea views. Off-road parking takes up to three cars. Dunster's iconic high street has the National Trust's Dunster Castle at one end and the Yarn Market at the other, with the Tithe Barn, the Dovecote, the Butter Cross and the fifteenth-century church all nearby, along with St George's Church a short walk from the door. The village has several restaurants, pubs and tea rooms and a good range of independent shops and galleries, with a pub a short walk away. Minehead, a mile and a half off, has a sandy beach, the West Somerset steam railway and the larger supermarkets and banks, and Exmoor National Park is all around for walking and cycling.
