About Hideaways Blue Anchor
Hideaways is a single-storey chalet-style bungalow in a very peaceful woodland setting at Blue Anchor on the west Somerset coast, with no through traffic; the land was originally part of the grounds of a large manor house. It sleeps four in two bedrooms, holds a Gold award and welcomes dogs and cats. The beach is about ten minutes' walk away.
The sitting and dining room is bright and airy, a good room to relax in with a television, DVD player, radio and stereo and a wide selection of books, videos and films, and a dining table that doubles for games. The kitchen is newly fitted with an electric cooker and oven, a fridge, microwave, toaster and washing machine, and the modern bathroom has a bath with a shower over. The two bedrooms are a double and a twin. Free wifi is provided along with towels and bed linen.
Outside, the rear garden is private and secure, with a backdrop of beautiful trees, flower borders and a picnic table; French doors open to a front garden with a bench, and the Brendon Hills can be seen in the distance. Parking is adjacent to the property, and there is a birdwatching area.
The furnishing throughout is done with care and the owners' stated priority is clean, comfortable and tranquil accommodation, which is what you get. A dog-friendly pub is a short walk away in the nearby village. There are good walks along the coast and through the woodland, and the position is a delightful base for exploring Exmoor and the pretty villages around it. Dunster Castle is close, along with the Quantock Hills, Tropiquaria Zoo and the Fleet Air Arm Museum, and Minehead has a seafront, coastal walks, views from North Hill across to the Welsh coast, summer floral displays and plenty of coffee shops and eateries. There is fishing, golf, sailing and watersports locally, and Taunton, nineteen miles off, has the nearest mainline station.
