Laburnum Lodge is a three bedroom single storey holiday lodge at Woodcombe Lodges near Minehead in Somerset, sleeping up to six and rated M2 for accessibility with a Gold award. It occupies the far end of the site, which gives it a secluded, private feel, and the outlook is across fields, hills and valley towards Exmoor. Three acres of shared gardens surround the lodges, with twelve local walks starting from the door and a good deal more within reach across Exmoor National Park, the Quantocks and the South West Coast Path. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.
The interior is open plan and easy to live in: a large sofa with room for the whole party, a dining table, a television with DVD player, and a veranda leading straight off the sitting area with seating from which to take in the view over breakfast. The kitchen has a cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a full set of utensils, and its open arrangement means whoever is cooking stays part of the conversation. There is a laundry room, and wifi and digital television throughout. Bed linen is provided. The three bedrooms comprise a main bedroom with twin beds that can be linked on request, an en suite shower wet room with WC and shower wheelchair, and its own door out to the patio; a second bedroom with a double bed; and a third twin bedroom. The main bathroom has a bath, shower, washbasin, WC and heated towel rail.
As an M2 rated lodge, Laburnum has been set up with wheelchair users in mind. Access is by ramp at the side of the lodge, next to the parking, along a wheelchair friendly path, and wide doors open into the living area. Level access runs throughout the ground floor, all bedrooms and bathrooms are on that level, and there is a wheel in shower with a pull down seat, grab rails by shower and toilet, a wheeled shower chair and disabled access parking. Both the twin and double bedrooms have space to manoeuvre a wheelchair. Parking for two cars sits adjacent to the lodge, free of charge. Shared site facilities include a games room with table tennis, a snooker table and table football, a children's play area with swings, and crazy golf. Dog friendly walks are within fifteen minutes and a dog friendly pub within thirty.
Minehead, a seaside town with a steam railway on the edge of Exmoor, lies within a mile, with restaurants, pubs, cafes, a local shop and a supermarket all inside that radius.
