The Woodman's Hut is a shepherd's hut on the outskirts of Minehead, near Periton, reached along a driveway up through the woods. It sleeps two, holds a five-star rating with a Gold award, and has its own private wood-fired hot tub with country views over the surrounding fields and farmland. The beach at Minehead is about a mile and a half away.
Inside it is a genuinely cosy space for two: a double bed with under-bed storage, wardrobe space, a kitchenette with a double ceramic hob, a fridge and a toaster, and a log burner. What sets this hut apart from most is that the bathroom is inside it, a shower room with a hand basin and WC, so there is no crossing a field in the dark. There is no wifi, though the phone signal locally is good, and bed linen and towels are provided.
Outside is the private wood-fired hot tub, positioned for the views, and a covered veranda for sitting out whatever the weather, along with a patio, barbecue and parking. The property does not take pets.
Minehead is a seaside town on the edge of Exmoor National Park, a short drive away, with a lovely beach, shops and restaurants. It is the starting point of the South West Coast Path, the longest countryside trail in the country, and the terminus of the West Somerset Steam Railway, the longest heritage line in Britain. Exmoor gives you magnificent views, wildlife and cosy pubs, with walking, cycling and wildlife watching in all directions, and Dunster Castle is nearby.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
