Coot is a barn conversion at Wheatacre Hall Barns, a small complex of eight self-contained units on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, close to the village and surrounded by farmland on the edge of the southern Norfolk Broads. The market town of Beccles, which also has the nearest railway station, lies around six miles away. The barn has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and sleeps up to six, with a king-size bed and two single beds, and it holds a VisitBritain gold award. Children are welcome, a cot and high chair are available, and one dog can be accommodated.
Inside, the layout is open plan, combining a sitting area with the kitchen and a dining table seating six. Exposed beams and other original features are retained alongside central heating, digital TV and wifi. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker with double oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Bathrooms are en-suite, with a power shower. Bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are provided. Outside there is an enclosed patio garden with a barbecue and countryside views over fields, with ample private off-road parking and an electric car charging point. Guests share the on-site leisure facilities, which include an indoor hot tub, a gym and a games room with a pool table, table tennis, table football and air hockey. There is also a library room, a selection of books and board games, giant Jenga, swings, football goal posts, a bird watching area and free bicycle hire.
The barn suits families, couples and small groups, including hen, birthday and anniversary gatherings, as well as those travelling with a dog. Dog-friendly walks and a dog-friendly pub are within a fifteen-minute walk, and further pubs and restaurants are found in the nearby town within five miles. The setting is dark sky friendly, so stargazing is possible on clear nights. Walking, cycling, birdwatching, boating, canoeing, paddle boarding, river and coarse fishing, golf, horse riding, karting and clay pigeon shooting can all be arranged locally. The Broads National Park is on the doorstep, with the Norfolk and Suffolk coasts around half an hour away for beaches at Southwold, Walberswick, Aldeburgh and Gorleston-on-Sea. Other options include RSPB Minsmere, Framlingham Castle, Africa Alive, BeWILDerwood, Snape Maltings, Wroxham Barns and Norwich Cathedral. The barn is decorated for Christmas with a tree.
Bed linen is provided for every bed.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
