Snipe is a barn conversion on a working farm at Wheatacre, in the countryside between Norfolk and Suffolk and within the Norfolk Broads National Park. It forms part of a group of eight self-contained holiday properties and holds a Visit Britain gold award. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with space for three to six guests, plus a cot and high chair for younger visitors. One dog is welcome. Beccles, the nearest town and railway station, lies roughly five miles away.
The living and dining space is open plan, with exposed beams, a television with digital channels, wifi and a dining table laid for six. The kitchen has an electric cooker with double oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Bedrooms include a king-size room and a twin with two single beds, and there is an en-suite as well as a power shower. Central heating runs throughout, and bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are provided. Outside, Snipe has an enclosed garden and a patio where guests can use the barbecue, with ample private off-road parking and an electric car charging point. Guests share the leisure facilities on the farm: an indoor hot tub, a fitness barn and a games room equipped with air hockey, table football, a pool table and table tennis. Children have swings and football goalposts, and there are bikes to borrow free of charge, books and board games, a bird watching spot and a stargazing area in dark skies.
The property suits families, couples and small groups marking a birthday, anniversary or hen weekend, as well as anyone looking for a quiet rural base. Farm tracks and lanes give walking and cycling straight from the door, with fishing, wildlife watching, horse riding, golf and paddle boarding among the activities in the area. A dog-friendly pub is within a short walk. Beccles has independent shops, cafes and restaurants, and the Broads are best seen from the water. The Suffolk coast is within driving distance, with Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich Heath, and attractions such as RSPB Minsmere, Framlingham Castle, Snape Maltings, Africa Alive and Pleasurewood Hills. Norwich, with its cathedral, lies further north. The barn is decorated with a tree and Christmas decorations in December.
Bed linen is provided for every bed.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
