Widgeon is a three-bedroom barn conversion forming part of Wheatacre Hall Barns, a farm development of eight self-contained holiday properties on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, close to the southern edge of the Norfolk Broads National Park. The setting is rural and quiet, with views across surrounding fields and farmland, and the market town of Beccles lies around five miles away. The barn sleeps three to six people in a king-size room and two single beds, with three bathrooms, including en-suites, so washing facilities are not shared between all guests. It holds a VisitBritain gold award, and one dog is welcome.
Inside, the layout is largely open plan, with exposed beams and original features retained alongside central heating, digital TV and wifi. The kitchen has an electric cooker with a double oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, and the dining table seats six. Power showers serve the bathrooms, and bed linen, towels, a welcome pack, cot and high chair are provided. Outside there is an enclosed garden and a patio overlooking the fields, with a barbecue and ample private parking, including an electric car charging point. Guests share the on-site leisure facilities: a covered indoor hot tub, plus a games room equipped for air hockey, table football, table tennis and pool. Children have a playpark with swings, football goalposts and giant Jenga, and bicycles are available to borrow at no charge. Board games, a stargazing area in dark skies and a bird watching spot add to the mix.
The barn suits families, groups of friends and gatherings such as birthdays, anniversaries and hen weekends, with a minimum stay of three nights. A village inn is within a short walk, and dog-friendly walks and a dog-friendly pub are both about fifteen minutes away on foot; further pubs, restaurants and cafes are found in Beccles, which also has the nearest railway station. The Broads are on the doorstep for boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing, while walking, cycling, golf, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting are all possible nearby. The Suffolk and Norfolk coast is within reach for beaches at Southwold, Walberswick, Aldeburgh and Gorleston-on-Sea, and days out include RSPB Minsmere, Africa Alive, Pleasurewood Hills, Framlingham Castle, Snape Maltings and Norwich Cathedral.
Bed linen is provided for every bed.
Additional charges: No additional cleaning fees.
