About Rhydd Holiday Barn

Rhydd Barn is a detached whitewashed stone barn three miles from Malvern, three and a half from Upton upon Severn and eight from Worcester, with fabulous views over the Malvern Hills. It is a one-bedroom retreat for two, holds a four-star rating with a Gold award and is allergy friendly. It also offers unusually spacious accommodation for a couple, laid out over three levels, with a second sleeping area if needed.

You step in to a large open-plan living area combining a sitting and dining area with a built-in kitchen, with underfloor heating underfoot and plenty of light from large windows to the front and side. The kitchen has all the essentials for self-catering including a dishwasher, an electric oven, gas hob and microwave, and guests are welcome to use a freezer in an outbuilding across the patio. One dining table seats four, and a second smaller table with two chairs is often used for jigsaws or a laptop. A utility houses the washing machine, and there is a shower room with a power shower and a separate room with a washbasin and WC.

Stairs lead up to a second sitting room looking west towards the Malvern Hills, furnished with a sofa, comfortable chairs, a television and a coffee table, with a vaulted ceiling and French doors opening onto a small balcony. Another door leads to the double bedroom with a dressing table and wardrobe, and a smart en-suite bathroom with a full-sized bath finished in white ceramic tiles and pine. Stairs continue up to a galleried area with a futon sofa bed and a desk, which makes a good spot for quiet reading or working and can serve as a second sleeping area.

Outside is a sheltered private patio with a bench, with garden table and chairs stored in the outbuilding for guests' use, and ample parking for two vehicles. Wifi reaches the whole property, and there is gas central heating alongside the underfloor heating. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, a carton of milk in the fridge and an initial supply of tea, coffee, sugar and useful kitchen items, and two folders of local information are left in the barn.

A gastro pub sits within a mile in the nearby village. Malvern, three miles off, is a traditional English market town with Great Malvern the nearest station. The Malvern Hills National Landscape is on the doorstep for walking and hiking, with angling, archery, birdwatching, golf and swimming nearby. Eastnor Castle, Croome Court, Witley Court, Worcester Cathedral, the Museum of Royal Worcester, Elgar's birthplace, the Black and White Village Trail and the Cotswolds are all within reach, and the Three Counties Show, the Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Upton Folk Festival are all local fixtures.
