The Barn stands on a smallholding in open countryside just south of Worcester, off Stonehall and Kempsey Commons and close to the River Severn, with views across to the Malvern Hills ten miles away. It sleeps six in three bedrooms, holds a Gold award and takes two dogs. The conversion was done to keep the character of the original building: beams and existing walls have been retained, with oak flooring and doors, built-in cupboards, a winder oak staircase and underfloor heating added.
Downstairs there is a good-sized, well-equipped kitchen with a table comfortably seating six, a hallway, a cloakroom and a large sitting room with full-length windows and French doors onto the patio and garden. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a double with an en-suite, a single and a twin with a third bed under one of them, plus the main bathroom; each room has far-reaching views over the countryside. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and freezer, wifi, and a cot, high chair and stairgate available, with towels and bed linen provided.
Outside, the garden and car park are private to the barn and well fenced so children and dogs can run free, with a patio, barbecue, parking for three cars and a lockable shed for bikes. The owners keep a small flock of breeding ewes and sometimes laying hens and geese that graze the adjoining orchard, so free-range eggs and seasonal fruit are often available. There is stabling and limited grazing if you want to bring a horse, and dogs are welcome either indoors or in the kennel.
The position gives immediate access to the Worcestershire countryside for walking, cycling, riding or exercising the dogs. A pub sits in the nearby village, and Worcester, three miles off with its cathedral, the Museum of Royal Worcester, Greyfriars House and Elgar's birthplace, is close, along with several smaller market towns; Worcestershire Parkway has the nearest station. The Malvern Hills, Croome Court, Hanbury Hall, Witley Court, West Midland Safari Park and the Wyre Forest are all nearby, and the Forest of Dean, the Cotswolds, Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon all make good day trips. The owners take short breaks and even short-term rentals if you are between homes.
